The Quality Control team at ALFIL MILLERS LTD is committed to ensuring that the processed product is safe and of sound quality which does meet our customers’ expectations and hence ensure customer satisfaction. All the executed core tasks and implemented programs couple to yield a robust quality control system at all stages of the food production continuum: from reception of raw materials ( wheat grains) , milling, storage and distribution to our customers. This has been attained due a skillful team of quality controllers with a concrete food safety management and quality control experience. Below is precise product information.

Quality control and assurance Core tasks at Alfil Millers (u) Limited.
Quality Control department at Alfil Millers (U) Ltd does establish and enforce quality standards; testing materials and products. Material and product testing is done internally and externally. External tests are done for validation purposes. Internal tests on wheat grains and wheat flour are done throughout the entire production cycle. Wheat grain checks are executed by credited laboratories such as;

  • SGS Vostok Limited
  • Bureau Veritas
  • Intertek

Product tests are executed by credited laboratories such as;

  • Uganda National Bureau of Standards
  • Chemiphar Laboratories

Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that they are met. This is done by conducting Customer feedback surveys in form of complaints and satisfaction by Quality control and marketing departments. Customer feedback evaluation in form of complaints, suggestions and satisfaction is highly prioritized, soundly monitored and timely response ensured. Customer Complaints, observed deviation or suggestion for improvement are communicated through;

  • phone calls
  • Written note to the company
  • Comments made to the marketers
  • comments on feedback survey forms

Compliance with the regulatory bodies, thus, the quality systems and products are certified by;

  • Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)
  • National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

Setting supplier service standards and specifying quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers. Before being accepted, any supplier of any material first meets the following criteria;

  1. The supplier must be from the approved suppliers list of ALFIL MILLERS LTD or by special arrangement.
  2. Operating a registered company
  3. Possesses a certifiable Quality management System (QMS) with UNBS, ISO 9000 or any other approved QMS system that invariably incorporates Hazard Analysis Critical control Points (HACCP)
  4. Complies with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and abides with existing regulations and quality parameters for both handling and transportation for the case of wheat grain suppliers.
  5. Should carry out acceptable harvesting practices for example mature grain
  6. Should regularly supply certificate of analysis (COA’s) from credited laboratories for wheat grains, wheat flour additives, packaging materials, cleaning & disinfecting materials to ALFIL MILLERS LTD.

Quality control & assurance implemented programs

  • For consumer confidence and product conformity to fortified wheat flour specifications, our wheat flour brands are audited annually and certified by Uganda National Bureau of Standards.
  • For increased productivity and adherence to quality standards, trainings are prioritized highly and these include; Orientation, Firefighting, General Food Hygiene Training, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Current General Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The training schedule is designed on a three month frequency.
  • In compliance with the weights and measures act, accurate measurements for product weights is thoroughly done by ;
  • Routine Internal weight verification checks by a team of Quality controllers
  • External weight verification checks by Uganda National Bureau of Standards officials.
  • Calibration of weighing equipment like weighing scales and weighbridge. This is done twice a year.
  • For product safety, medical examinations for employees (food handlers) are done by medical practitioners designated by Medical Authority. This is done twice a year.
  • For authenticity of the sound quality of our wheat flour brands and process water, farther checks and tests are done by credited laboratories such as Uganda National Bureau of Standards, Chemiphar laboratory and National water and Sewerage Cooperation. This is a quarterly designed schedule.
  • Customer feedback surveys conducted by quality control and marketing staff twice a year. The closeness between our customers and the company is assured by conducting feedback surveys.
  • In a bid to check our environment management systems, annual audits are conducted by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

In executing the highlighted core tasks and implementing the quality control and assurance programs, the quality control department is wholly guided by the QUALITY POLICY and HEALTHY AND SAFETY POLICY. The top management is fully committed to these two policies.
